Microsoft is slowly moving away from Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) support. As a result more and more companies and organizations are looking to stop supplying IE11 on their user environments. Blueriq is anticipating this moment by developing the successor of Blueriq Studio: Blueriq Encore. Meanwhile, Blueriq Studio still relies on IE11 and XBAP to run properly. For those users that do not have IE11 available we now support Microsoft Edge in (IE11 modus).
To use Microsoft Edge with IE mode, you have to meet prerequisites as listed on the Microsoft site. Additionally, it might be that some adjustments need to be made by you and/or your system administrator to your computer/windows environment to make MS Edge work in IE compatibility mode. These adjustments depend on your scenario.
There are three scenario's:
In any scenario, XAML browser applications need to be enabled in the security settings of your system, as described here: Studio security setting.
Please contact Blueriq Support if you have questions about using Microsoft Edge with IE mode.

Nov 12, 2021As far as I can see/find, this has to be done in Internet Explorer (or by a group policy/registry key) and cannot be done inside Microsoft Edge (and I assume this has to be done in all the 3 scenario's)

Dec 10, 2021Ik vind het verwarrend dat er 2 main scenario's zijn, maar er vervolgens nog 3 opties uit te klappen zijn.

Dec 10, 2021Misschien onderin nog de volgende regel toevoegen? Please contact Blueriq Support if you need any help while configuring Microsoft Edge with IE mode.

Jan 10, 2022For a BMF student with a Windows 11 laptop, I was able to configure the settings as described in scenario 1, but that was not enough. I couldn't find the security settings in Edge itself, but you can access them via the control panel > internet options (thanks for the tip Onno!). When I added the studio url to the trusted sites (and unchecked that https is required), studio was up & running without problems.

Jan 11, 2022Thanks for the additional link Vincent. I want to add that this link leads to a page that describes how to adjust the registry to allow XAML browser applications. In the past years in my work with students that are going to use our studio, I hardly ever had to adjust the registry in that way. But I always have to add the Blueriq studio url (e.g. http://classroom.blueriq.com/Studio/Studio.xbap) to the trusted sites in IE (or via the control panel > internet options).

Jan 11, 2022Registry is just one of the options (I think only system administrators will use it), users using edge I think should use the second option on that page (via the control panel).
