Each process has at least one start node for which the node ID is generated automatically.
There exist 2 types of start nodes.
Regular Start Nodes
The following icon is a regular start node for a process.
If your process is modeled as a subprocess, then this entry point will be taken when the subprocess is reached by flowing. You can only have one regular start node.
Message start nodes
The following icons is an event start node for a process.
This node is used to start a new case when a certain message event is received. When you click on this node, you will get the following options:
In this example, we have received a MessageEvent of type “NewApplication”. This message contains data, which we want to store in the domain of the process engine. You can define on which attributes the data of the message should be stored.
If the same process should be started for different MessageEvents, then you can add multiple message start nodes, one for every message.
